Halloween Charcuterie Board Ideas

The best Halloween charcuterie board keeps the food good and lets the color do the spooky work: orange cheddar, black olives and blackberries, dark crackers and blood-red salami. Make a grown-up board with a sharp cheese and a bold drink, a kids' board with mild cheese and candy, or portable charcuterie cups for a party that moves around.

Halloween charcuterie questions

How do you make a charcuterie board spooky without ruining the food?

Let color do the work: orange cheeses and fruit, black olives, blackberries and charcoal crackers, and one or two shapes cut with a cookie cutter. Skip food dye and fake props that touch the food.

How much charcuterie do I need for a Halloween party?

As an appetizer, plan about 2 oz of cheese and 2 oz of meat per guest, plus 5 to 6 crackers. If the board is the main food, double it.

How far ahead can I make charcuterie cups?

Up to 2 hours ahead at room temperature, or the morning of if you keep them covered in the fridge. Add crackers last so they stay crisp.

What cheese is naturally orange?

Orange cheddar, Mimolette and Red Leicester. All three are colored with annatto, a natural seed extract, and all three look right on a Halloween board.

What should I serve with a Halloween charcuterie board?

For adults, a dark beer, a smoky mezcal cocktail or apple cider. For kids, sparkling apple cider or orange soda in clear cups.
