Trader Joe's Charcuterie Board: Shopping List for 10 + Prices

Quick Answer: For 10 guests where the board is the party food, buy 30 oz of cheese and 30 oz of meat (just under 2 lb of each) at Trader Joe's: Unexpected Cheddar, sliced Manchego, Double Cream Brie and Creamy Toscano soaked in Syrah, plus salame, Calabrese and prosciutto. Add Fig and Olive Crisps, Savory Thins, a baguette, grapes, raspberries, Marcona almonds, cornichons and dark chocolate. At prices seen in 2026 it comes to about $90 to $110, or $9 to $11 a guest.

Trader Joe's is built for this. The cheese case is small but well chosen, the crackers are cheap, and the extras that make a board look finished (dried orange slices, Marcona almonds, dark chocolate) cost a couple of dollars each. The trick is buying the right amounts, because it's easy to come home with seven cheeses and no meat.

How much to buy for 10

The Lab standard is 3 oz each of meat and cheese per guest when the board is the main food, and 2 oz each when a meal follows. Under 20 guests you don't need a buffer.

Cured meat30 oz20 oz

Trader Joe's pack sizes vary and change, so read the weight on each label and keep a running total until you hit the ounces above.

The cart: cheese (30 oz)

Unexpected Cheddar8 oz$3.99
Manchego, sliced7 oz$9.48
Double Cream Brie8 oz$4.49
Creamy Toscano Cheese Soaked in Syrah7 oz$4.80

Unexpected Cheddar is the one everyone asks about: a cheddar with the sweet crunch of an aged Parmesan-style cheese. Manchego brings a firm, nutty sheep's milk cheese, the brie is the soft one, and the Syrah-soaked Toscano has a purple rind that adds color. Boursin ($3.79) or Port Salut ($6.35) are good swaps. If a cheese pack comes up short of the ounces, buy two. Read more about aged cheddar, Manchego, brie and Boursin.

The cart: meat (30 oz)

Italian dry salame stick8 oz$4.99
Calabrese salame6 oz$5.49
Sliced prosciutto4 oz$4.29

Slice the salame stick into coins on the diagonal, fold the sliced salame into quarters and drape the prosciutto. Calabrese brings a little heat. Prosciutto-wrapped fresh mozzarella ($4.99 for 5 oz) is an easy extra that counts toward both the meat and the cheese. See Genoa salami and Prosciutto di Parma.

Meat$26
Crackers and bread$14
Fruit and extras$28 to $35

Smaller boards: $25 and $45

BoardServesWhat's in it
$254 to 6Unexpected Cheddar, Double Cream Brie, a deli selection, Savory Thins, an apple, a cucumber, honey roasted peanuts, Manzanilla olives
$456 to 8Toscano in Syrah, Unexpected Cheddar, Boursin, sliced salame, prosciutto, Fig and Olive Crisps, a baguette, strawberries, grapes, cornichons, mixed nuts

Both lists are from the same Ain't Too Proud to Meg price check. At 4 to 6 people, the $25 board works as an appetizer before a meal. As the main food, use the $45 board for 6. For more ways to save, see the budget charcuterie board.

Seasonal finds worth grabbing

Trader Joe's rotates seasonal items in and out, so these depend on when you shop.

If a seasonal item is gone, swap in the year-round version. A cranberry goat cheese can be made at home by rolling a plain goat log in chopped dried cranberries.

Build it in 20 minutes

  1. 1 hour before: take out the Manchego and Unexpected Cheddar (45 to 60 minutes for aged cheese).
  2. 30 minutes before: take out the brie, Toscano and meat.
  3. Bowls first: olives, cornichons, almonds.
  4. Cheese: the brie wheel whole with a knife, the cheddar crumbled into rough chunks, the Manchego fanned.
  5. Meat: salame rivers, prosciutto in loose piles, salame coins in a stack.
  6. Crackers in two long runs, then grapes, raspberries, orange slices and chocolate in the gaps. Tuck the rosemary in last.

Keep the board out no more than 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90°F.
