Why it works
Everything here is cut to be picked up with two fingers: cubes of smoked Gouda and pepper jack, rounds of summer sausage and folded calabrese salami. No soft cheese to spread and nothing that leaves your hands oily.
Hot honey and spicy brown mustard turn the meats and cheese up a notch, and pickles cut the richness. Cashews, grapes, pretzel bites and wheat crackers fill the gaps. An IPA or a hard seltzer is the drink.

Questions
What snacks are best for game night?
Finger food that isn't greasy: cubed cheese, sliced summer sausage and salami, pickles, grapes, nuts, pretzel bites and sturdy crackers, with hot honey and mustard for dipping.
How do you keep a board from getting messy during games?
Cube the cheese, slice the sausage into rounds, put dips in small bowls with spoons and leave out anything that needs spreading.
Can I make it less spicy?
Yes. Swap the calabrese for Genoa salami and use plain honey instead of hot honey.
