Why it works
Nothing here needs a kitchen. Firm aged Gouda and Manchego travel well, smoked duck breast and prosciutto come sliced, and the fruit is the kind that is ready to eat the moment it's peeled.
Lychees, mango and dried pineapple bring the vacation flavor, and their sweetness is what makes the salty duck and prosciutto taste so good. Macadamia nuts, mango chutney and dark chocolate finish it, with a dry Riesling or sparkling rosé.

Questions
What's an easy charcuterie board for a hotel room?
Pick firm cheeses (aged Gouda, Manchego), pre-sliced meats (smoked duck breast, prosciutto), fruit you can peel, nuts, chutney, dark chocolate and thin crackers. A cutting board or even a clean tray works.
Where do I find smoked duck breast?
Specialty grocers and some larger supermarkets carry it near the cured meats. Extra prosciutto is a fine swap.
How long can it sit out?
No more than 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90°F, which matters on a balcony in the tropics. Keep the meat in the mini fridge until you're ready.
