Why it works

Game day food is salty, crunchy and dippable, and keto has all three. Pork rinds and celery take the place of chips, and fresh guacamole is the dip almost everyone already eats.

Three cheeses (sharp cheddar, pepper jack, smoked Gouda) and three meats (pepperoni, salami, bacon) cover mild to spicy. Pickled jalapeños and pickles cut the fat. About 5 g net carbs per serving.

Timeline

  1. T–60 minTake the cheddar, pepper Jack and gouda out of the fridge. Bake the bacon (400°F, about 18 min).
  2. T–30 minMake the guacamole: mash avocado with lemon juice, salt and garlic powder.
  3. + 3 more stepsThe rest of the timeline and the step-by-step placement are in the full plan.

Questions

What are good keto snacks for a football party?

Cubed cheese, pepperoni and salami, bacon, pork rinds, celery, guacamole, pickled jalapeños and pickles.

Can I make the guacamole ahead?

Up to a few hours. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface and add the lemon juice to slow browning.

How do I keep it safe during a long game?

Put out half and refill from the fridge at halftime. Keep meat, cheese and cut produce out no more than 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90°F.
